Al received his BFA from the College for Creative Studies in Detriot, MI, majoring in Illustration. In 2006 stone and bronze became his preferred mediums, often combining both to make life-size, representational figurative, fantasy and animal sculptures. The sculptures are carved with an illustrative approach giving emphasis to realism and detail. Working as a Park Ranger for 40 years, much of Al’s inspiration is drawn from the natural world. He has been a participant at the MARBLE/marble Stone Carving Symposium in Marble, CO for the past 12 years. He will be the Symposium’s featured Guest Instructor in 2019. He also a regular guest instructor at 2Scuplt workshops in Kansas.
